Golf
With great golf courses all around, Bassenthwaite is an excellent location to base your stay in Cumbria.
This golf club is renowned for its outstanding Lakeland views and superb facilities. The course is sited in the valley between the mountain masses of Blencathra to the North and Clough Head to the South, probably one of the most scenic situations for a course in the country. This challenging eighteen hole parkland course measures 6225 yards with a par of 71.
Designed by famed golf course architect James Braidand and set against a picturesque background of the beautiful Cumbria countryside. An eighteen hole course measuring 5410 yards with a par of 69. Most greens are fast and sloping, and the bunkers are strategically placed for maximum effect. The frequent strong winds also add an extra dimension to playing here.
Maryport Golf Club was formed on January 21st 1905 and is now a well established 18 hole course, part links and part parkland. Situated on the Solway coast,, it enjoys fabulous views across the Solway Firth, with panoramic views of the Scottish coastline.
Silloth
Silloth on Solway Golf Club is blessed with stunning views of the Galloway Hills to the north, and south to the Lakeland fells and the distant Isle of Man. The Championship links of 6,641 yards has been laid out over the sand-hills west of town, touched by some of the great classical golf architects, but mostly moulded by Nature herself. The links is an R & A Regional Qualifying Course for the Open.
It is unsurprising that Silloth on Solway ranked within Golf World's top fifty UK courses and is at the very top of the list in terms of customer value.
